In Deep Waters

“In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.”
Psalm 94:19

Happy Thanksgiving!! So because it is Thanksgiving, I’ll keep this post short.

I’ve always been fascinated by silhouettes. There is just something about the plain contrasting black and white that I find quite appealing. Some silhouettes have quite a lot of detail, it’s true, but I prefer just the simple ones.

I like the feeling that this particular one portrays of being still. An indistinct man in a boat out on the water somewhere by himself. It seems to convey a feeling of solitude and peace. Imagine, if you will, the quiet rippling of the water lighted only by the soft glow of the moon — and in the distance the vague outline of a far-off shore on the horizon.

I found the inspiration for this on Pinterest (as usual!) 😉

Thanks so much for taking a look at my blog and, Lord-willing, I’ll have another post for you next week! God bless! 🙂

Just ‘Round the Bend

“And he said, let us take our journey, and let us go, and I will go before thee.”

Genesis 33:12

I want to start out by thanking thevirtualinstructor.com for the information I found on charcoal pencils. They have some really great information on there as well as awesome tutorials.

On this one, I thought I would share how it progressed along with the finished piece. Also, I thought why not throw in some of my art tools, just so that you can see how I went about this one. 🙂

On a side note.. I am considering posting some art history information on Tuesdays. So I would have an art history post every Tuesday and then my regular art post every Thursday. Good idea? I’d love to have your feedback on this! If it’s something you might be interested in, please comment below, or on Artsy Inspirations Facebook page. Also, if you haven’t already looked, a friend of mine has this great blog that she’s been doing for awhile. It’s called The Diary of Danielle, you should definitely look it up! 🙂

Something New, Something Old, Something Borrowed

“O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.”

Psalm 34:8

Hey guys! So I know what you’re probably thinking… it’s been awhile.. 😛 BUT… I have spent my time wisely! I have taken it upon myself to draw something new everyday so that I will have quite the collection of new art to show every Thursday. But I was looking back through some of my old stuff and there’s a few pieces that still catch my eye, so I thought I might share them with you bit by bit. I was also quite captured by some other artists’ work that I’ve seen on Pinterest, so I thought hey, why not share that gorgeous artwork (and give them credit, of course) on my blog! I won’t make it a habit, but just a little something different 😉
