A Day in My Shoes

I really don’t know why I haven’t done this sooner.

What is life like for me?

Well, for those of you who don’t know me, I am a small-town girl in my early twenties who is just trying to stay afloat in this thing called life. I dream of adventure, but at the end of the day I like to “play it safe”. And that’s okay. Contradictions seem to be a part of my life; I’ve learned to deal with it. πŸ˜‰ Continue reading

May Night

Spring is practicallyΒ upon us! Can you believe it? The time seems to go by so fast! Here’s a Spring poem to brighten your Sunday! πŸ˜€

“The Spring is fresh and fearless

And every leaf is new,

The world is brimmed with moonlight,

The lilac brimmed with dew.

Here in the moving shadows

I catch my breath and sing —

My heart is fresh and fearless

And over-brimmed with Spring.”

A Personal Story

IMG_20170328_162141

I thought I would share with you a personal struggle of mine. I have a problem that I think a lot of other people struggle with as well; it’s the problem of becoming complacent and then wanting to move on to the next step even though I may not be ready for it yet. Once I become stuck in that “groove” things begin to revolve around my troubles and I begin to complain and wonder why can’t I have what I so desperately need. However, I’m learning that not all of the things that I want are things that I need. The Good Shepherd knows each of His sheep and He knows what I need. He promises He will provide for my needs and yours if we will trust in Him. So trust in Him! Believe me, if anyone’s got this, He does! πŸ™‚ Continue reading

Reluctance

“Out through the fields and the woods

And over the walls I have wended;

I have climbed the hills of view

And looked at the world, and descended;

I have come by the highway home,

And lo, it is ended.

The leaves are all dead on the ground,

Save those that the oak is keeping

To ravel them one by one

And let them go scraping and creeping

Out over the crusted snow,

When others are sleeping.

And the dead leaves lie huddles and still,

No longer blown hither and thither;

The last lone aster is gone;

The flowers of the witch hazel wither;

The heart is still aching to seek,

But the feet question “Whither?”

Ah, when to the heart of man

Was it ever less than a treason

To go with the drift of things,

To yield with a grace to reason,

And bow and accept the end

Of a love or a season.”

Lightening the Load

Are you the type of person who struggles with mismanagement of priorities? Do you try to do everything you can to please everyone in your life? I am just that type of person. I have a hard time saying no to favors and no to people in general in my life. Is it bad to want to help a friend? Is it bad to always try to please everyone you know? No, not necessarily, but it can become a hindrance to your own growth and at times it often does. When we get stuck in stormy weather in our lives, we often don’t know what to do. It can feel like our troubles drown out everything else. Continue reading
