Night Song at Amalfi

I hope you’re having a wonderful Sunday! Because ofย all the romantic notions that seem to accompany February, I thought of this poem for today. ๐Ÿ™‚

“I asked the heaven of stars

What I should give my love —

It answered me with silence,

Silence above.

I asked the darkened sea

Down where the fishers go —

It answered me with silence,

Silence below.

Oh, I could give her weeping,

Or I could give her song —

But how can I give silence,

My whole life long?”

This poem by Sara Teasdale was something that Jim Elliot wrote about Elisabeth Elliot in their time apart before they were married. It really has so much depth in it, I simply had to share it. ๐Ÿ™‚
