How To Stop A Dog From Digging?!

How To Stop A Dog From Digging_!.png

Hey friends! I realized that I don’t think I’ve made a post about my partner in crime, my adorable, sweet, not-so-little furry friend, Zoey. So I’m gonna remedy that! Here’s to all the dog lovers out there!

Most people probably know that I’m a dog mom. I only have one dog, but I hope to one day have a whole doggie family! Hehe šŸ˜‰

Anyhoo, my sweet Babs (her name is actually Zoey, but she’ll respond to Babs too!) is a husky/german shepherd mix with short hair. She was a rescue dog when we got her.

My twin brother was out driving on a pretty busy freeway near where we live and it was late at night. He saw this van stop by the side of the road and throw out this little dog and just take off. It was horrible! But there she was, little Zoey, cowering all scared in a ditch by the side of the road. He took her home and she became my dog. We got her checked out and everything to make sure she was healthy and she was. She was in perfect condition, approximately 9 months old.

She was the tiniest, cutest, little thing! She would cry and cry if I left her alone, I think she got scared if no one was with her. She wouldn’t bark though, not for a really long time. Then one day I was coming home from work and she saw me coming and started wagging her tail and she barked! Just one bark, but it startled me! haha! She still doesn’t bark a whole lot now, she pretty much just barks when she needs something.

Her temperament is soo sweet. She’s gotten pretty big now, but she still insists on cuddling and being held and it’s the most adorable thing!

However, because of the husky in her, she is sooooo hyper… I mean she gets these random bursts of energy and she’ll go and go until she can’t anymore, rest a little bit, and then go again. I can’t keep up with her. I’ll just let her run.

There is one problem though. She likes to dig… Especially if she’s left on her own. She’ll dig out of the property and go gallivanting around the neighborhood. I mean, she always comes back when I go looking for her, but I’d rather she didn’t keep digging out.

I just don’t know how to make her stop. I’ve googled it and Google has failed me. I don’t know what to do. It’s kinda frustrating actually cause we could get fined if she’s caught by animal control, which happens quite a bit in our neighborhood.

So if anyone has any advice on how to stop her from digging out, that’d be greatly appreciated! šŸ™‚

What’s your favorite pet?! Do you have the same problems with your dog digging as I do? I’d love to know! šŸ™‚
